Simon Costello is Director of Children Youth & Family Services at the Los Angeles LGBT Center. The Center’s programs and services for LGBT youth experiencing homelessness, include a 7-day a week drop-in center, a 28-bed emergency shelter and a 34-bed transitional living program. The LifeWorks program provides one-on-one mentoring and youth development programs for at-home and at-school LGBTQ youth. The RISE program provides services to LGBTQ youth in foster care with the goal of strengthening family connections and improving permanency outcomes for young persons in systems of care. A priority for Simon is the ongoing development, implementation and evaluation of programs that achieve meaningful outcomes for youth including innovative education, employment, and youth development programs.
Simon serves on the City of Los Angeles Workforce Development Board's Youth Council; he is a board member of the California Coalition for Youth, and an advisory board member of Safe Place for Youth, a program for youth experiencing homelessness in Venice, California.
