Deputy Chief Ken Gominsky was born in Santa Ana and has spent his entire law enforcement career with the Santa Ana Police Department. He began his journey at age 15 as a Santa Ana Police Explorer, and has now given 34 years of loyalty and commitment to the Department and community. Deputy Chief Gominsky has risen through the ranks while serving in various roles of influence and leadership in making positive changes in the community and Department.

While serving as an Officer, Deputy Chief Gominsky, took a committed and active role while serving on the Community Oriented Policing Task Force, which improved the quality of life in several fragile neighborhoods within our City. He was first promoted to corporal in 1998 where he served in patrol as a supervisor and Field Training Officer. Administratively, Deputy Chief Gominsky went on to serve as the Corporal in Court Liaison, followed by serving in the Technology Support Bureau. He also served on the Anti-Terrorism Task Force in which he contributed to the development and implementation of counter-terrorism practices in the County of Orange. In 2004, he was promoted to the rank of Sergeant and served in Field Operations, Crime Analysis, Computer Services, as well as a serving on the Use of Force Committee. In 2007, Deputy Chief Gominsky was promoted to the rank of Commander, in which served as a Watch Commander, Commander of Technology and Support Bureau, Commander of Homeland Security Division, and as Field Operations District Commander. With his promotion to Deputy Chief, he became responsible for all uniformed police resources within the City. Most recently he has assumed the role of the Deputy of Investigations

EDUCATION: Deputy Chief Gominsky is a State Certified Crime and Intelligence Analyst trained by the University of California. He has a Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice from Cal State Fullerton. He is a recent graduate of the FBI Law Enforcement Executive Development Course.

Deputy Chief Gominsky believes in Servant leadership and takes tremendous pride in the relationships he has established and uses them every day to facilitate forward movement for our Department. He sincerely believes that the police officers and civilian staff at the Santa Ana Police Department are second to none and recognizes that those individuals make the difference.
